Adobe Photoshop CS5 Optional Plugins was designed as a complementary package for Photoshop CS5, boasting a collection of features that have been removed in the making of the giant.
Although with each release of a new version the common trend is to add new functionalities on top of the existent feature set, there are cases when some of the options are removed, sometimes for the better.
Most of the times, this occurs when the association of old and new features may cause issues in the behavior of the program, or simply, the functionality is outdated and becomes less and less popular to the point where it’s useless to preserve it.
Adobe Photoshop makes no exception – its development has undergone quite the list of changes and compromises had to be made in order to make room for innovation.
However, for Photoshop CS5, the company developed a special package, that would restore some of the functionality abandoned in the new release.

In addition to these, the package also adds support for a set of file formats, such as Alias, ElectricImage, SGIRGB and SoftIMage.
Getting these accommodated on the system is not difficult, most of them simply need to be placed inside the plugins folder in order to become active on the next program restart.
On an ending note, Adobe Photoshop CS5 Optional Plugins is a comprehensive package that is able to resurrect some of the features that were missed by Photoshop fans. The advantage is that you can add only the ones you need, since they are made available as separate plugins.
